This course is designed to help dentists understand the importance of implant therapy, therefore incorporate this new discipline into their daily practices. It will familiarize participants with the every aspects of implant treatment including: difference between natural teeth and dental implants, classifications of prostheses, bone volume and quality assessment, indications and contraindications, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment planning, surgical guides fabrication, surgical insertion, soft and hard tissue grafts to facilitate implant esthetics, flapless implant surgery, guided implant surgery, restoration, follow-up, maintenance care and overall implant quality of health. In addition, participants will have opportunity to perform implant related procedures (e.g., immediate implant placement, sandwich bone augmentation, implant prosthodontics) in a simulated model. At the end of this lecture, the participants will have a detail understanding of how implants should be used in their daily practice.

 

LEARNING Objectives:

  • Know how to incorporate implant therapy into their daily practice.
  • Be familiar with the bone volume, bone quality, indications, contraindications, objectives and techniques for implant surgical and prosthetic procedures.
  • Learn how to make a good implant surgical guide.
  • Recognize the advantages and limitations of newly introduced techniques (e.g., immediate implant loading, guided implant surgery and flapless implant surgery)
  • Able to perform implant maintenance procedures.
