  • Dean School of Dental Hygienist Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona.

  • Active Member of the Italian Society of Operative Dentistry (SIDOC), as well as of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED).

  • Founding Member of the Italian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (IAED).

Introduction
 
Very often aesthetic seems to be interpreted as a different kind of dentistry. The reality is that for patients aesthetic result and function are a single and equally important aspect.
 
Abstract
 
In 1998 Roulet and Degrange introduced the concept of adhesive dentistry referring it as the “silent revolution”.

After less than 10 years the “silent revolution” has substantially changed. Adhesive dentistry is becoming a large part of our dental daily practice and the limits between prosthodontics and operative dentistry are blended, because the aesthetic partial restorations are most commonly used instead of traditional crowns.

As effect of this, the life of dental elements has been increased and the aesthetic results of the dental restorations have led to unexpected high levels. During the lecture all the steps of aesthetic restorative procedures will be treated in the biological respect of dental and periodontal tissues.
 
Educational Objectives
 
During the conference, participants will be provided with recommendations to simplify the techniques to achieve aesthetic restorations both in direct and indirect procedures. The final aim is to perform a true minimally invasive dentistry, in order to reduce full crown procedures, have the possibility to check restorations periodically and avoid the risk that failure coincides with the loss of the tooth element. Unfortunately this failure occurs very often in case of traditional crowns.
