  Objective

  • To describe the use of ultrasonic instruments in access refinement and removal of calcifications for root canal location.
  • To discuss and assess proper working length determination.
  • Describe the hydrodynamics involved inside the root canal during irrigation to increase its intracanal action.
  • To understand possible inactivation due to improper combination of irrigants as well as techniques for clinical implementation.
  • To describe the characteristics and advantages over other Niquel Titanium files of the Twisted file instruments.
  Course Outlines
Modern endodontic treatment requires armamentarium like ultrasonic tips to be used under the microscope to increase the accuracy to find calcified canals, elimination of interferences like posts and broken instruments and also to increase the disinfection of the root canal system by the use of Passive ultrasonic irrigation, which increases the hydrodynamics of intracanal fluids with an improvement of the removal of nectrotic tissue from areas not touched by rotary instruments. Videos of hard cleared teeth will be presented to highlight the techniques presented in the clinical cases as well as some research studies on irrigant hydrodynamics, root canal disinfection and filling in 3D.

The Twisted files are the first and only files to combine 3 unique and proprietary processes for unsurpassed strength flexibility:

  • R- Phase heat treatment technology resulting in a file that is more resistant to breakage.
  • Twisted flute design, not ground, eliminating the formation of micro-fractures
  • Advanced surface treatment maintaining the hardness of file and sharpness of cutting edges. Safe files, superior fills.

  Hands On - 7 March 2010
  (Limited Seats Available)
Group A: 09:00 am - 10:30 pm
Group B: 11:00 pm - 12:30 pm
Group C: 02:00 pm - 03:30 pm
Group D: 04:00 pm - 05:30 pm

  Hands On Course Objectives

  • Utilize  Rotary Nickel-Titanium files safely and efficiently based on an understanding of it’s unique properties
  • Learn to obturate the root canal system in 3-D to capture the natural anatomy using a warm vertical technique
  • Recognize the clinical impact of latest obturation materials and equipment

Safe and Efficient Endodontic Treatment

During the hands on lecture, plastic blocks and extracted teeth will be instrumented using the Twisted Files, demonstrating both flexibility and resistance to breakage of the instrument in a simple, easy to learn technique. Then instrumented plastic blocks and teeth will be filled using the RealSeal 1™ Bonded Obturator from SybronEndo and the Elements Obturation Unit. The unit combines the downpack motion using the System B and the injection of gutta percha or resilon with the extruder allowing for a very efficient 3-D fill. Videos of hard cleared teeth will be used to demonstrate on the techniques to be described.

Canal Shaping – The Twisted files are the first and only files to combine 3 unique and proprietary processes for unsurpassed strength flexibility:

  • R- Phase heat treatment technology resulting in a file that is more resistant to breakage.
  • Twisted flute design, not ground, eliminating the formation of micro-fractures
  • Advanced surface treatment maintaining the hardness of file and sharpness of cutting edges.

Obturation – RealSeal 1™ Bonded Obturator is the next generation in carrier-based delivery systems. It is engineered using proven Resilon® technology, which boasts 5 years of supporting published data.*

RealSeal 1 Features:

  • Bonded fill in root canal from apex to crown with Resilon technology (sealer, filler and core)
  • Resilon technology – sealer, filler and core bond with each other to form a superior seal
  • Retreatable – rapidly dissolves in chloroform
  • Dual radiopacity – enhances diagnosis
  • Injection molding – consistent, centered coating
The participants should bring the following items to the hands-on course

  • Extracted accessed teeth with fully mature apices that are approximately 21 mm long.
  • loops, masks, gloves and an endo explorer if desired.
