introduction

The sophistication and evolution for performing predictably successful root canal treatment has occurred through an interactive dynamic of material, technique, and change in biologic understanding and perspective. This program will address the philosophy, knowledge and skills necessary for acquiring the expertise to perform endodontics consistent with the latest standards and to create a predictable outcome and longevity for subsequent restorative procedures.

With over 75% of dentists in incorporating nickel titanium instrumentation during root canal preparation, this method of cleaning and shaping is the latest of technologies to ensure predictable canal shapes and clean canal walls. As a participant in our program, you will become familiar with the use of the “apex last” approach to canal shaping, nickel-titanium instrumentation using the TF™ (Twisted File) System, predictable irrigation protocols, and vertical condensation of thermo-softened RealSeal™ (bonded obturations system) using RealSeal One™, a new and innovative carrier based obturation system, and the Continuous Wave of Vertical Condensation using the Elements™ Obturation System. The Continuous Wave of Obturation is trademarked by Dr. Stephen Buchanan.

This program is taught digitally by combining PowerPointTM, FlashTM animation, and Quick Time™ video clips.

Educational Objectives
  1. Achieve straight line access, eliminate cervically positioned curvatures, to facilitate root canal preparation.
  2. Remove the smear layer with predictable irrigation protocols.
  3. Accurately locate the apical constriction.
  4. Shape the root canal space using NiTi technology in a safe and efficient manner-negotiation, apical gauging and apical finishing techniques. The TF™ (Twisted File) NiTi system will be discussed in detail.
  5. How to obturate the root canal system in 3-D to capture its natural anatomy with vertical condensation of thermo-softened RealSeal™ (new bonded obturation system) using RealSeal One™, a new and innovative carrier based obturation system and the Continuous Wave of vertical condensation using the Elements™ Obturation System.
